Interior lime plasters encompass a vast array of finishes. Authenticity, as well as beauty, should be the primary concern when considering a lime finish. Today a great number of “faux finishes” inundate the market. These “fake” finishes (“faux” in French literally means “fake”) try to imitate, albeit sometimes quite well, older traditional European finishes. These new “faux finishes” have little in common with the actual traditional plasters, other than perhaps some vague visual resemblance.
By using Natural Hydraulic Lime today, as professionals have in the past, we can recreate the same exact finishes that we still admire today. The finishes have a variety of names and textures ranging from “lime plaster” to “Venetian plaster”, “Marmorino” and many more, including the absolute waterproof “Tadelakt”, which comes to us from Morocco.
Rustic finishes are often achieved by using products such as NHL 2 and/or EcoMortar® F, while finer or smoother finishes are more easily achieved with Decofond and/or Decoliss.
For all of these specialty applications it is essential to employ skilled and knowledgeable applicators. Please contact us directly for more information.
