Portland cement and sand mortars, even with the addition of lime, still maintains a very high compressive strength and low water retentivity. A wall containing such a mortar may appear to be strong, but it would be vulnerable to cracking and rain penetration. Saint Astier® Natural Hydraulic Lime and sand mortars, on the other hand, have a suitable compressive strength from low-to-high, and high water retentivity. A wall containing such a mortar would achieve its strength gradually, allowing for minor settlements, and would offer a greater resistance to cracking and water penetration. The availability of different NHL products, (product numbers 2, 3.5 and 5), allows for the making of mortars with the desired strength without having to add or blend other materials.
