Hemp Construction, or Hempcrete, is much like concrete and is used mostly to form insulating walls. Saint Astier® Natural Hydraulic Lime’s hemp construction product is called Batichanvre. It is mixed with strands of hemp to produce a lightweight, well insulating material. Forms are typically used, much like concrete, to pour walls. Once the material hardens, the forms can be removed and the outsides and insides of the walls can be finished with the desired product, such as NHL or Lime Paint.
Natural Hydraulic Lime over the Hempcrete is similar to applying it over a plaster on adobe or cob construction technique.
